Question: What do you call the person who since April of 2008 has done 2 Marathons, 1 Ultra-Marathon, 3 Half-Ironmans, a Half Marathon, and 2 Full Ironmans??
Answer: A fit and healthy candidate for surgery
Poopers...Results of MRA received today and the result is a hip labral tear and cyst. The labrum is a ring of cartilage that protect the head of the thigh bone from rubbing against the hip joint. Apparently, mine is torn. Ouchie... Potential candidate for surgery :-( Not the news I was hoping to receive, but at least I now know what the problem is.
Will know more by the end of the week...

Wow - I hope this is something that can be readily rectified.
Injuries suck!
I'll be sending good thoughts your way.
Booooooooo. I am so sorry you are going through this. I will keep you and your labrum in my prayers!!
I also think the wheelchair bike is pretty cool looking - I am sure the tri community could invest in a few and pass them around.
But maybe by having the surgery you can recover quicker and get back to training for St. George.
WOW, what a year!
I'm sorry about the bad news, but you are right - at least now you know what to do.
The answer to the question in my opinion is an amazing athlete!! I hope some time off will help heal but if surgery is the answer then there is a plan of action in tow. Thining of ya!
I had surgery in April '09 for a labral tear in my hip. Had great results!
Let me know if you have any questions and if you need a reference.
Gosh, that stinks. Injuries always scare and depress me, but Jen sounds like you have reasons to be really confident. I can't think of anything I have to offer except positive mojo, but if we can help . . . .
Sorry to hear about your injury. You might ping Rich LeGrand. I think he had a similar injury.
Dang! That is a bum deal. But here is the positive news. If you have a good surgeon who understands the athlete he is dealing with, you should have a quick recovery and be able to get back to training sooner than you might think.
Keep us updated.
So sorry--- I wish you all the best and success with the treatment.
